Great Books and Great Opera

photo

Elizabeth Patton's Great Books at Hopkins course last fall included an in-class performance from Purcell's Dido and Aeneas by Elizabeth Hungerford and Jason Buckwalter, of the Peabody Chamber Opera. The opera is based on a story from Virgil's Aeneid, one of the works Patton's class explored during the term.

In the coming weeks, look for more on the course and how it's incorporating opera, at www.krieger.jhu.edu/greatbooks
